Train For Life

Every year across the United States, over 3 millions dogs are surrendered to shelters. Of those dogs, only about 2 million are adopted, with somewhere between 10-20% of them being returned to the shelter within the first six months or less.

According to the ASPCA’s National Rehoming Survey, pet problems are the most common reason that owners rehome their pet, accounting for 47% of rehomed dogs and 42% of rehomed cats.  Pet problems were defined as problematic behaviors, aggressive behaviors, grew larger than expected, or health problems owner couldn’t handle.

At WPK9, know how important it is for adopted dogs to be able to remain in their homes as safe and polite household members, so our Train for Life Program provides resources to our shelter partners to give to adopters! We currently partner with three different shelters in the local area with many more lined up to provide discounted training for dogs adopted through their adoption programs.

Adopters only need to show us their official adoption paperwork from one of our partnered shelters or rescues to receive a free consultation and a discount that can be applied to any of our training programs or group classes. See our list of partnered shelters and contact us if your NCWV shelter or rescue is interested in partnering with our program!
